JMeter Installation and Configuration

JMeter is OpenSource performance testing tool. It's developed by 100% Java. It's very powerful, enable full multithreading capability and flexible for testing various technologies.

Out of the box, it support following technologies:
  • Web - HTTP, HTTPS
  • FTP
  • WebServices SOAP
  • Database via JDBC
  • LDAP
  • JMS
  • Mail (SMTP, POP3, IMAP)
  • Native Command or Shell Scripts
However, with plugins, it can support many more technologies.

Requirements:
You only need to make sure Java version is 1.5 or higher. You can download/update Java from http://java.com/en.

Installation of JMeter

  • First download JMeter from http://apache.claz.org//jmeter/binaries/
  • Select latest "apache-jmeter-x.x.zip" file. In our case, we will download "apache-jmeter-2.7.zip"
  • Unzip it in somewhere in your computer. In our case, "C:\Program Files\Apache\JMeter"
